Dr. Jim Mick welcomes Dr. Ronael Eckman to Ponderosa Pediatrics
Ponderosa Pediatrics is pleased to announce that Ronael Eckman, MD has joined the practice and is scheduling appointments for October 2010.
Dr. Eckman is a board eligible pediatrician and is certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Neonatal Resuscitation. She completed her formal training at Phoenix Children’s Hospital and Maricopa Medical Center in June 2010.
She is a Yavapai County native and third generation Arizonan, born and raised in the Verde Valley where her family still resides. She completed her undergraduate education at Arizona State University in Tempe and earned her MD at the University of Arizona in Tucson.
Dr. Eckman is a passionate football and college basketball fan and enjoys outdoor activities including hiking, wakeboarding and snowboarding. She is active as a mentor in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program and plays in a recreational softball league. She enjoys spending time with her siblings, her cat “Mouse,” and finds time for reading and star gazing.
Dr. Eckman explains “there are many reasons I chose to become a pediatrician, but one of the most prominent is the opportunity to form meaningful long-term relationships with parents and patients while serving them with the knowledge and skills I have attained.”
In February 2010, she spent three weeks completing a rural outpatient clinical rotation at Ponderosa Pediatrics as part of her residency program. A few months later she contacted the practice about a permanent position. When asked why she wanted to join Ponderosa Pediatrics she said “during my rotation there, I was impressed with their amazingly caring and welcoming environment and their obvious love for patients, families and staff.”
For people wondering how she handles collegiate allegiance with an undergraduate degree from ASU and MD from U of A, Dr. Eckman simply added “GO CATS!”
Dr. Eckman joins current providers Drs. Jim Mick and Matt Hinton along with Pediatric Nurse Practitioners Lee Howard, Michelle Copeland and Jeanne Gibian.
